SHINee’s Key revealed his candid experience in Ethiopia during a press conference for MBC’s “The Seven Guests” -- working title -- on Tuesday afternoon.
“When I arrived in Ethiopia, SHINee fans were there (at the airport),” the K-pop singer said as he explained his adventure while filming for the variety show.
“I wasn’t expecting any when we were told that our filming destination is Ethiopia and I couldn’t imagine fans coming to the airport. I had no makeup on and the fans were there. (But) I gladly signed and took photos with them.”
The 24-year-old star also expressed his feelings on being a popular K-pop icon, representing Korea’s pop culture.
“I felt like I was representing Korea and exchanging culture. I told them to love Korean TV and K-pop”
“I had a chance to eat an Ethiopian home-cooked meal at a local family’s house and there were about 20 fans at the scene. I thought it was a very special encounter so I greeted everyone and gave out hangwa or traditional sweets.”
The travel variety show that shares the food, culture and history of various countries airs on MBC every Friday at 9:55 p.m.
