Heo Jun stamp |
Stamps of Donguibogam, one of the most famous traditional Korean medical books, and its editor Heo Jun have been printed in the United States.
Media Joha, a New Jersey-based Korean-American business, recently printed the stamps through Photo Stamps, a postage service provider approved by the U.S. Postal Service, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The stamps commemorate the 400th anniversary of the publication of the book and its editor.
“Donguibogam: Principles and Practice of Eastern Medicine” is an encyclopedia of medical knowledge and treatment techniques compiled in Korea in 1613 and edited by Heo Jun with the collective support of medical experts and literati according to royal instruction. It was added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World register in July 2009.
The Donguibogam and Heo Jun stamps are valid in the U.S. They are 46 cents apiece.
