Singer Jang Yoon-jeong’s money dispute with her brother and mother intensified after the estranged family members appeared on TV Wednesday.
Jang Gyeong-yeong and his mother Yuk Heung-bok appeared on Channel A and denied the singer’s accusation that they had squandered all of her life savings.
“She (Jang Yoon-jeong) used to help me early on in the business, but the amount was about 500 million won ($444,000),” Gyeong-yeong said.
He also claimed that his sister attempted to get their mother admitted to a psychiatric hospital, even though she has no mental illness.
Yuk denied the rumors of her excessive gambling, which some had suspected was the reason behind the alleged spending spree. She added that she was “hurt” because her daughter’s husband-to-be Do Kyung-wan did not contact her.
The singer’s agency said Thursday that Jang will not take action against her family’s recent claims.
Jang Yoon-jeong claimed early this month that her family had spent all of her money on a business that is still run by her brother. She also said her parents were in the middle of a divorce.
