Local jazz vocalist Nah Youn-sun has been appointed Korea’s goodwill ambassador for UNESCO’s International Jazz Day, according to representatives of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO.
In 2011, UNESCO honored jazz music as a source of enhancing global unity and peace and deemed April 30 International Jazz Day. As a representative of Korea, Nah will perform alongside other local jazz artists at Olympus Hall in Seoul on April 30.
The 44-year-old musician first debuted as a jazz vocalist in Korea at age 12 before moving to Paris to continue her studies in music. Nah recently released her eighth album last month titled “Lento.” Along with her performance on International Jazz Day, Nah will also hold a solo concert on April 17 at LG Arts Center in Seoul.
