Former foreign minister Kim Sung-hwan will take to the lecture podium at Seoul National University.
The Graduate School of International Studies of the university said Thursday that it decided to appoint Kim as a two-year chair professor on Monday.
Kim also will act as the first head of a global social contribution corps of the university, launched in February this year.
The corps will integrate and coordinate on-campus contribution activities, educate in contribution activities at home and abroad, provide social services, conduct research on international development cooperation, and give advice on national policies.
“An international sense as a veteran career diplomat, his global network of connections and the experience and competence as foreign minister will contribute to global contribution activities by Seoul National University,” a school official said.
Kim graduated from Seoul National University with a major in economics in 1976, and served as minister of foreign affairs and trade from 2010-2013.
