Samsung Electronics to hire more workers in China

HONG KONG (Yonhap News) -- Korean tech behemoth Samsung Electronics Co. is expected to hire more employees in China in an effort to enhance its display production there, company officials said Wednesday.

Samsung Electronics plans to hire dozens of professionals for process manufacturing, quality management and production management of its liquid crystal display (LCD) production facilities in China, according to the officials in China.

The move comes after the world‘s largest flat display maker obtained last month approval from the Chinese government to build an LCD factory in the country. Samsung’s smaller rival LG Display Co. has also received a separate nod.

The approval is expected to help the two LCD makers tap into growing demand for large-size flat panels used for televisions and computers.

In 2010, China became the largest LCD TV market in the world, with total sales estimated to have hit 40 million units, surpassing the sales in the United States, driven by the country‘s economic growth.

According to the Samsung officials, the new recruits will be trained at Suzhou on China’s east coast, where Samsung aims to start operations of a 7.5-generation LCD factory in the second half of 2012, and will be later assigned to different cities.
