Sharing by shopping project launched at N Seoul Tower

Shoppers have been given a new way to give to charity while buying some of their favorite brands.

Seven companies have joined forces to promote the giving “N Mark” brand. Companies SBS, CJ N City (N Seoul Tower), Korea Smart Card, Lotte Tourism, Yoon’s English, WithPharm and Yegadeun have all pledged to give a percentage of the sale price of items bearing the mark to charity.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and Korea National Council on Social Welfare held an Agreement Ceremony on Tuesday at N Seoul Tower, where K-pop group Dal Shabet came to write messages of support on the wall tiles there.

Each company has chosen a different way to support the scheme.

SBS will donate 10 won for every call to their TV show Miraculous Audition. CJ N City will attach the N Mark on the “love message” tiles and coffee tumblers that they sell at N Seoul Tower. Korea Smart Card will donate some profits from its T-money business, while Lotte Tourism will give some of its profits of their summer specials to help multicultural families in Korea. Yoon’s English will donate a port ion of its profits to abandoned children’s English education. WithPharm will donate cash to help cover medical and surgery costs for poor people. And Yegadeun will deliver lunchboxes to elderly people who are not able to supply their own meals.

Health and welfare minister Shin Choo-hee said: “Thanks to the companies participating in this program, I believe the donations will be delivered to our neighbors and used wisely, I hope the N Mark campaign is spread even further and loved by more people.”

Any companies wishing to participate in the Sharing Happiness N Campaign can contact the Korea National Council on Social Welfare’s social contribution department on 02-2077-3958.
