Samsung rolls out printers designed for smartphones

Samsung Electronics said Tuesday it rolled out a printer that does not need to be connected to a computer and can connect to a smartphone for printing and scanning.

The wireless model of the printer series ML-2160 and SCX-3400 is installed with Wi-Fi Direct, allowing it to be controlled from a smartphone or other smart gadget, according to company officials.

By downloading “Samsung mobile printing” applications from the Android or Apple mobile application stores, people can print files saved on their smart gadgets, a Samsung officials said.

“This is not the first time a printer with such function is being newly released, however, the connection process between a smart device and the printer has seen improvements, becoming more convenient than before,” the official said.

With the set-up time taking just two minutes, the printers are available in three colors ― white, sepia and blue.

On a related front, the mono laser multifunctional printer dubbed SCX-3400 series, which is an item for small and home offices, comes with a 433 megahertz central processing unit and a 64-gigabyte memory.

It also allows people to cut down on toner usage through the installation of the eco driver and enables people to reduce their usage of carbon dioxide, electricity, paper and toner on their computer monitors by pressing the eco simulator feature.
