Volunteers are to teach a winter session of Korean lessons to foreigners in Seoul.

The free classes will run from Jan. 14 to April 17 at 10 different levels to suit the needs of all students, with the only cost being the Korean language textbook.

The two-hour classes are to be taught by volunteers every Saturday at three different locations in Seoul, with further information to be given at an orientation day.

Those wishing to join one of the 12-week courses must first attend the orientation at Isu Culture Center on Jan. 7.

The center is a 10-minute walk from Isu (Chongshin Univeristy) Subway Station exit 14.

Those interested may send an email with the subject line “Winter Korean Class” to mannamkorean@gmail.com. They should include their first and last name, nationality and occupation. They should also indicate what level of study they are interested in. The interest in taking the language courses has grown so high that the orientation will be split into three timeslots to accommodate everyone. Applicants should also state in their email whether they wish to attend the A slot orientation from 1-2:30 p.m., the B slot from 4-5:30 p.m. or the C slot from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The Mannam volunteer organization will also hold a New Year party on Jan 14.

The event from 3-5 p.m. will offer a chance for the group’s international members to get together, celebrate and share ideas for the coming year.
