British American Tobacco Korea plans to introduce a stronger version of its Lucky Strike cigarettes to boost the nascent brand’s presence in the market, the local unit of the multinational group said Monday.
The latest product, Lucky Strike Original Filters, will provide a richer and bolder taste than the previous version, and features cork-tipped filters with modern, black packaging, the company said.
A pack contains 8 milligrams of tar and will be sold for 2,500 won ($2.20) starting Wednesday.
Since launched here in October, Lucky Strike has been receiving “positive consumer responses,” a company spokesperson said, without disclosing detailed sales figures. The brand, which was created in 1871, is now available in more than 60 countries.
BAT Korea has been trying to prop up its teetering No.2 spot in the domestic market following a 200-won price hike in April. It revamped packaging for its flagship Dunhill line-up and unveiled a new premium product, Dunhill Switch, last year.
