South Korea's presidential office held a charity bazaar to raise money for underprivileged people, official sources said Saturday.
The event held in front of the main reception center attracted
10,000 visitors including residents of nearby neighborhoods and
family members of employees working at the executive office.
President Lee Myung-bak donated a briefcase and necktie, while
first lady Kim Yoon-ok contributed a vest and two handmade dolls.
Sources said the briefcase, which the president took on many
foreign state visits, fetched 6 million won ($5,120) while the
dolls brought in 2.5 million won.
The president's office said all proceeds from the bazaar will
be given to underprivileged people like elderly citizens living
alone, teenagers who are responsible for the running of households
and people suffering from debilitating diseases. (Yonhap News)
