Swedish professor cuts wife’s lips

Prosecutors  have charged a Swedish professor with aggravated assault after he allegedly cut off his much younger wife’s lips and ate them because he believed she was having an affair.

The 52-year-old man, whose name was withheld, was also accused of slicing his wife’s arms in the attack.

The assault was first reported by a Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet in May and prosecutors classified the case as attempted murder, but dropped the charges down to aggravated assault after it became clear during questioning that he never intended to kill his wife.

Prosecutor Kakob Holmberg said that the man was upset with his wife for requesting a divorce and flew into a jealous rage.

“He did it so that she would never be able to kiss again and said, ‘I’ll get four years, but you’re getting a life sentence.’” Holmberg added.

A교수(52)는 나이차이가 많이 나는 연하의 아내의 불륜을 의심해 이와 같은 범행을 저지른 것으로 알려졌다.

재판부는 이 사건을 살인미수죄로 분류했으나, 추후 A교수가 아내를 살인하려는 의도가 없었다는 점을 참작하여 가중폭행죄로 감형했다.

사건 담당 검사 제이콥 홈버그는 A교수가 부인이 이혼을 요구하며 질투심을 유발해 화가 난 상태였다며 “가해자는 "난 4년형을 선고 받겠지만, 당신은 종신형이야”라고 부인에게 말했다. 그는 아내가 다시는 키스할 수 없도록 입술을 자른 것이다" 라고 전했다.
