Australian rower arrested after drunken night out

LONDON (AFP) -- Australian team officials were on Thursday investigating an incident in which a drunken rower was arrested at the London Olympics, officials said.

Josh Booth, 21, was detained early Thursday after allegedly damaging a shop front near the rowing venue in Eton Dorney, west of London, and later required hospital treatment after he fainted and hit his head.

He was released without charge.

Booth was a member of the Australian eight which finished last in Wednesday's final.

The Australian team chef de mission Nick Green said: "We understand there was alcohol involved. Again I don't know all the details. The investigation will present all that."

An Australian team spokeswoman said a decision on possible disciplinary action against Booth would be made once the investigation was completed.
