A 30-year-old Canadian woman died after she fell into a river near Montreal while posing for wedding photos, officials said.
The woman, whose name was not reported, was standing in six to 12 inches of water in the Ouareau River while a photographer was taking her picture, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.
Ronald McGinnis, spokesman for the Quebec provincial police, said the woman's dress became heavy after soaking up water and she asked for help getting out of the river.
The photographer and his assistant were unable to lift her out of the river and she was swept away by currents and taken under water, McGinnis said.
The woman's body was found about four hours later, officials said.
CBC said the woman, who was not named, had been married June 9, but wanted more pictures taken of her wearing her wedding dress. (UPI)
