Psy says will release new song in April

South Korean rapper Psy said Monday his follow-up to his global hit "Gangnam Style" will likely be released in April.

"I finished the song but it's hellish to make its music video," he told reporters at Incheon International Airport.

The video for Psy's "Gangnam Style" became the most-viewed YouTube clip in December, topping 1 billion hits, and broke the 1.2 billion mark last month.

He recently starred in a Super Bowl ad for Wonderful Pistachios, a popular U.S. snack brand.

The singer's first ad in the United States aired during half time of the 47th Super Bowl that was broadcast live by CBS TV, a major U.S. network.

"I feel proud," he said after confirming the commercial's broadcast with Korean reporters at the airport.

In the commercial, Psy wears a pistachio-green suit and bursts out of a pistachio nut. He then performs his trademark horse-riding dance together with dancers dressed as pistachios.

The singer temporarily returned home from Shanghai as a flight delay caused rescheduling, according to his Korean management agency, YG Entertainment. It said he originally planned to transfer to a flight to Los Angeles at Incheon airport.

In Seoul, the agency says, Psy will spend time with his family without a public appearance since it is his first time to be home in about two months.

Psy will fly to the U.S. Tuesday and attend events before leaving for Brazil to attend Carnival on Friday and Saturday, according to the agency.

On Feb. 11, he will perform "Gangnam Style" at a Lunar New Year festival on the northern island of Penang, an event organized by Malaysia's ruling coalition.

He will then return home again to attend the inauguration ceremony for South Korean President-elect Park Geun-hye on Feb. 25.(Yonhap News)
