Strauss-Kahn to visit Korea next week

Former International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn will be visiting Korea next week to attend an economic forum, the organizing think tank said Tuesday.

The French economist is scheduled to appear at an economic forum to be hosted by the Institute for Global Economics on Oct. 30 and will give a speech on global economic trends and governance overall, the institute said.

His visit to Seoul is only to attend the conference, and he will return to Paris as soon as the forum ends, it added.

Strauss-Kahn has made a few trips to Korea in the past as the IMF chief, around the time when Seoul hosted the Group of 20 meeting in 2010.

Since he resigned from his top post at the IMF in 2011 following sexual assault allegations, he served as an advisor to the Serbian government and a board member of the Russian Regional Development Bank.

Late last month, Strauss-Kahn joined Anatevka, a Luxembourg-based investment banking firm. (Yonhap News)
