Eom Hyeon-taek |
Eom Hyeon-taek, a former member of the Korea Tripartite Commission, was appointed the new secretary general of the Korea Labor Foundation on Wednesday.
Eom, 58, was chosen by the commission’s board of directors to serve his three-year term starting Wednesday. Eom is an expert in labor-management relations with decades of experience in key posts, mostly in the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
“We’re expecting a lot from Eom, who has hands-on field experience in labor policies,” said Kim Young-soo, the commission’s management support team leader.
The new secretary general graduated from Seoul High School and studied sociology at Seoul National University. He received a master’s in labor-management relations at the University of Illinois and passed the 24th Public Administration Examination.
Eom also served as the head of the Seoul Regional Labor Administration and director general of the Labor Ministry’s labor management cooperation policy and industrial accident prevention and compensation bureaus.
The Korea Labor Foundation is a public organization established under the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2006 to boost partnership between labor and management.
