카라 새멤버 영지, 강지영, 니콜 자리 메울까?

카라 영지 합류 후 8월 새 앨범을 발표한다.

지난 1일 방송된 MBC뮤직의 ‘카라 프로젝트-카라 더 비기닝’ 프로그램에서 허영지는 소진, 소민, 채원 등 다른 세 경쟁자를 제치고 카라의 새로운 멤버로 최종 선정됐다.

장기간 연습생 시절을 거친 허영지는 프로그램 초반부터 시청자들의 사랑을 받으며 각종 투표에서 1위를 달렸다.

허영지는 “너무나 기쁘다. 멤버로서 ‘카라’의 이름에 누가 되지 않도록 최선을 다해 발전하는 모습을 보여드리겠다”고 각오를 밝혔다.

니콜과 강지영이 탈퇴한 카라는 현재 박규리, 한승연, 구하라 등 세 멤버로 구성돼 있다. 4인조로 재편되는 그룹은 오는 8월 새 앨범을 발표한다. 이후 국내 활동에 이어 10월에는 일본 투어에 나선다.

KARA welcomes new member

K-pop girl group KARA will switch to a four-member group as it introduces the winner of a TV audition program as a new member, the group's management agency said Wednesday, according to Yonhap News.

The report said the group has been working as a three-member band since the departure in January of two of its original five members -- Kang Ji-young and Nicole.

According to DSP Media, Heo Young-ji, 20, became a new member of the group, beating out three competitors in the final round of the cable TV MBC Music's "KARA project-KARA The Beginning," which was aired on Tuesday, Yonhap said. 

Heo, who has long been undergoing training by entertainment agencies to be a singer, received good marks in all categories of the contest -- physical appearance, dancing and singing -- the agency said.

"I'm really happy. I'll do my best and try to develop as KARA's new member in order not to cause any trouble to the group," Heo said during the program. (From news reports)
