Final performance of ill-fated Ladies’ Code to be revealed on TV

The onstage performance of K-pop girl group Ladies’ Code, which was made just hours before its fatal car accident, will be televised on Sunday evening.

Korea’s public broadcaster KBS has decided to air the footage of the quintet’s last performance on its music show “Open Concert” after a heated in-house debate over whether or not to broadcast it, officials said.

“We have carefully discussed whether to broadcast the last performance of the group that lost two of its precious members in a car crash and decided to respect the bereaved families and its agency by airing the footage,” said a KBS representative.

Two of the group’s members -- RiSe and EunB -- died in the accident, which occurred as the members were on their way back to Seoul after participating in the music program in Daegu.

The van carrying the members skidded off the road and crashed into a protective barrier in heavy rain on Sept. 3, immediately claiming the life of the 21-year-old EunB. Her bandmate RiSe, 23, died four days later after undergoing an 11-hour surgery that was halted due to low blood pressure.

The funerals for EunB and RiSe were held in Seoul on Sept. 5 and 9, respectively.
