[Asian Games] S. Korea wins swimming bronze in men's freestyle relay

South Korea clinched the bronze at the men's 4x100m freestyle relay with a new national record, falling behind defending champ China and Japan at the Asian Games on Wednesday.

Olympic champ Park Tae-hwan anchored the team that also included Kim Sung-kyum, Yang June-hyuck and Nam Ki-woong, as they set the new South Korean record of 3:18.44 at Munhak Park Tae-hwan Aquatics Center in this port city.

It is the fourth bronze here for Park, who has also won one relay bronze and two individual bronze medals.

"I feel good winning (the medal) with my teammates even if it is a bronze," Park said.

The Chinese team of Sun Yang, Yu Hexin, Lin Yongqing and Ning Zetao grabbed the gold medal after setting a new Asian record of 3:13.47.

Japan's Shinri Shioura, Rammaru Harada, Takuro Fuji and Katsumi Nakamura came in second after clocking in at 3:14.38.

Chinese Olympic champion Sun withdrew from the 4x200m freestyle relay Monday after hurting his finger in the 200m freestyle, but showed no ill effects Wednesday as he captured his second gold here. He'd won the 400m freestyle on Tuesday.

Park is slated to race against Sun in the 100m freestyle on Thursday. (Yonhap)
