“Lee will stress those privileges that used to be available only for a few rich people will become common thanks to the 5G network technology in the global telecom sector,” an LG official said.

The CEO will also talk about the rise of “Me-Centric” society, where developed computer and network technologies will help users overcome time and place constraints to come up with creative ideas.

Uplus will receive a reward for its contributions to the world’s first commercialization of voice over Long Term Evolution services between mobile networks during the MWC Shanghai.

The company has been cooperating with global mobile carriers including KDDI in Japan to commercialize the VoLTE and establish technology standards for the network.

During the trade show in Shanghai, the CEO will meet up with highly ranking officials from global governments and ICT firms to discuss collaboration for future businesses, according to LG Uplus.

Announcing the launches of the company’s video streaming service “LTE Video Portal” and smart home solution “IoT@home,” last month, Lee said the mobile carrier would become the world’s top “Internet of Things,” those being Internet-connected products, business operator by 2020.

The video portal and “Internet of Things” platform were the first batch of services released in line with the firm’s efforts to provide tailored services for consumers.
