LAS VEGAS -- Aiming to claim the limelight at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show to be held Wednesday to Saturday in Las Vegas, Korean tech giant LG Electronics said Tuesday it would focus on building and promoting its premium brand image with high-end product lineups, including the LG Signature for home appliances.
The LG Signature, the latest christening strategy for the company’s premium products, consists of organic light-emitting diode TVs, a twin-tub washer and refrigerators.
LG, one of a few global players that have been pushing for the OLED TV for the past several years, will show off its competitive edge in OLED TV technology.

It will showcase OLED TVs -- from 55 to 77 inches -- sporting an upgraded operating system dubbed the Web OS 3.0 along with high dynamic range technology, which improves contrast and color expression.
Since the self-lighting OLED pixels do not require a backlight panel they can deliver a true black color, the tech giant explained.
The Korean firm’s Black Stainless Steel Series, premium kitchen appliances, will also likely wow the visitors to the exhibition booth of the firm during the annual electronics event.
“Featuring sleek stainless steel in black, the kitchen appliances including fridges, ovens and dishwashers will add a dab of luxury to the kitchen,” an LG official said.
The fingerprint-proof products also enable users to keep the kitchen tidy as food stains and gunk can be more easily removed.
The Internet of Things, a current buzzword in the tech scene, is expected to be in the spotlight at the tech exhibition this year.
Among LG’s IoT products to be displayed during the electronics event are the cylinder-shaped SmartThinQ Hub. The Hub serves as a gateway for connected devices, allowing users to check the status of the connected gadgets on the built-in display while the SmartThinQ Sensor, a hockey-puck shaped sensor to be unveiled at the trade show, transforms home appliances into smart devices.
Another notable device that may turn heads during the CES is the Roboking Turbo Plus, in its CordZero vacuum cleaner product lineup, equipped with virtual reality technology.
Fitted with three cameras -- on the top, bottom and front -- the robotic vacuum cleaner shows users the status of the home on smartphones in real time, weaves though obstacles and completes cleaning as instructed by users.
The tech behemoth has scooped up 21 awards for innovative products in 10 product categories including smartphones, wearables and home appliances from the organizer of the electronics trade show while its OLED TVs have received the Ultra HD Premium standard -- the first of its kind in the OLED segment -- from the UHD Alliance, a global consortium that establishes standards for UHD TV technologies.
“LG will continue to offer differentiated values for customers through premium products sporting advanced technologies and innovative designs,” said Na Young-bae, chief of LG’s global marketing division.
LG Electronics took the second spot in the world’s TV market by revenue with a 15 percent share during the January-September period last year, following Samsung, which posted a 27 percent market share, according to research firm IHS.
The research firm also predicted that around 25 billion smart appliances, wearables, game players and other consumer devices would run on the networks by 2025.
