N.K. quake magnitude raised to 4.8

South Korea’s weather agency raised Pyongyang’s estimated artificial earthquake level to magnitude 4.8, officials said Wednesday.

Earlier in the morning, the Korea Meteorological Administration estimated the earthquake scale to be magnitude 4.3.

The KMA added that the epicenter of the earthquake was latitude 41.30 degrees north and longitude 129.09 degrees east, north of Kilju-gun, North Hamgyeong Province, in North Korea.

The epicenter was initially stated as 41.39 degrees north and 129.31 degrees east, it added.

Earlier in the day, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center, the U.S. Geological Survey and China Earthquake Administration projected the earthquake to have a magnitude of 5.1.
