The Seoul metropolitan area is under a fine dust advisory for the third consecutive day on Sunday.
The city government issued the advisory for the city at noon as its 25 ward offices recorded an average fine dust concentration of 159 micrograms per cubic meter.
The advisory is issued when the fine dust (PM-10) level exceeds 150 micrograms per cubic meter for more than two hours.
The city recommended adults with respiratory or cardiovascular problems, the weak and old and children to stay inside and wear dust masks when they have to go outside.
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Province issued the same fine dust advisory on eight cities in the southern part of the province and ultrafine dust (PM-2.5) advisory on six northwestern cities at 1 p.m.
The eight cities are Suwon, Yongin, Pyeongtaek, Hwaseong, Icheon, Anseong, Osan and Yeoju and the six are Goyang, Gimpo, Paju, Yangju, Dongducheon and Yeoncheon.
The PM-10 concentration exceeded 166 micrograms per cubic meter in the northwestern cities and the PM-2.5 recorded 99 micrograms per cubic meter in the southern cities, according to the provincial government. (Yonhap)
