CJ opens second cultural space ‘Azit’

CJ Group has opened its second production studio and performance hall to support new artists in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of its CJ Culture Foundation, the group said Sunday.

“Just as CJ Group pioneered the culture industry 20 years ago and helped to develop the industry, the CJ Culture Foundation will provide a space where talented artists can grow and complete a virtuous cycle within the cultural ecosystem,” CJ Corp. vice chairman Lee Chae-wook said in an official statement.

Named “CJ Azit Daehangno,” the building provides budding artists with the infrastructure needed to develop their ideas and work with others in the industry to produce performances.

Located in artsy Daehangno, a district in northern Seoul known for its cluster of small theaters, it is optimized for plays and musicals. It is the second of its kind after the original CJ Azit near Gwangheungchang Station.

The CJ Culture Foundation was established in 2006 to support artists in various fields, such as music, theater and film.
