Organica, Starbucks introduce ‘Bistro Box’ in Korea

Organica Day, the organic juice and food development unit of Herald Corp., said Thursday that it has released the “Cajun Chicken Whole Wheat Bistro Box,” a tortilla wrap made with chicken and fresh vegetables, at some 800 Starbucks Coffee stores in South Korea.

The new locally launched product is based on Starbucks’ signature “Bistro Boxes” that have been garnering high popularity in the U.S. It was codeveloped by Organica and Starbucks for local introduction.

“With the launch of the ‘Bistro Box,’ our customers can now purchase healthy meals to accompany their coffee and drinks,” Starbucks Coffee Korea food director Lee Eun-jung said in a statement.

At just 255 calories, the “Cajun Chicken Whole Wheat Bistro Box” offers a whole wheat tortilla wrap made with Cajun chicken, romaine lettuce, bell pepper and other vegetables accompanied by tofu balls, celery and carrot sticks and a special peanut butter sauce.

It is priced at 6,900 won ($6) per box. Organica and Starbucks plan to launch the second-edition “Bistro Box” in Korea in the near future, according to the juice-maker.

In addition to the “Bistro Box,” Organica has also added a new product to its Cleanse Salad lineup at Starbucks -- the “Pasta & Chicken Salad.” At 258 calories, the new salad consists of fusilli pasta noodles accompanied by chicken breast, quinoa and other vegetables.

Three types of Organica cleanse salads are now available at Starbucks outlets nationwide -- the “Five Fruits Ricotta Salad,” the “Quinoa & Chicken Salad” and the newly launched “Pasta & Chicken Salad.
