Detailed terms of the deal were not revealed. Samsung said the acquisition was aimed at beefing up its capability focused on the smart TV advertising.
Established in 2010, AdGear has expertise in managing data and transmitting tailored ads for end users.
Samsung’s Global Innovation Center, the Korean tech giant’s start-up accelerator in Silicon Valley that has led the company’s key acquisitions in recent years, also reportedly played a core role during the whole process.
Last week, Samsung announced it had acquired US-based cloud service firm Joyent.
