Incheon airport wins two int'l food-beverage awards

Incheon International Airport, South Korea's main gateway for air travelers, won two prestigious awards at this year's international food and beverage trade event, the airport authority said Sunday.

The Incheon International Airport Corp. said it grabbed the Food & Beverage Marketing and Promotions Campaign of the Year and Food and Beverage-Related Innovation of the Year at the 2016 Airport Food & Beverage Conference and Awards event held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Inchoen airport, located west of Seoul, is South Korea's No. 1 air traffic hub and one of the busiest in Northeast Asia. Since its opening in early 2001, it has won a string of excellent service awards including being rated as the best airport by Airports Council International.

The annual FAB award is sponsored by Britain's Moodie Davitt Report, a travel retail and duty free business information provider, and its affiliated Foodie Report.

This year's event pitted some 270 airports and competing companies that vied for recognition in 19 service areas.

IIAC said last year's renewal of the airport played a part in Incheon winning the innovation award, while CJ Foodville, which is operating at the airport, helped secure the marketing promotion-related award. (Yonhap)
