[THE INVESTOR] South Korean stocks opened lower on July 6, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index lost 14.11 points, or 0.71 percent, to 1,975.74 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The decline followed overnight losses on Wall Street.
The Dow Jones industrial average lost 0.61 percent to 17,840.62 points on Tuesday, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq also shedding 0.82 percent to 4,822.90 points.
In Seoul, most large caps were in negative terrain, with market bellwether Samsung Electronics plunging 2.38 percent.
Top automaker Hyundai Motor was down 1.48 percent, while global chipmaker SK hynix tumbled 2.20 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,163.45 won against the US dollar, down 8.05 won from the previous session‘s close.
