Park to host luncheon with heads of midsized firms

President Park Geun-hye will host a luncheon with the heads of some 140 midsized enterprises and economic policymakers to offer them her encouragement and call for their continued efforts to help create new jobs and bolster trade.

During the luncheon at the presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae, Park plans to touch on the outcome of the government's drive to foster midsized companies and her future policy direction, and express her continued commitment to support businesses, her aides said.

The presidential office said the luncheon meeting will also be attended by Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho, who doubles as deputy prime minister for economic affairs; Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Joo Hyung-hwan; and Small and Medium Business Administration chief Joo Young-sup.

A midsized firm refers to an enterprise that has more than 500 billion won ($440 million) in overall assets, hires more than 1,000 permanent workers and earns an average of 150 billion won a year in sales over the past three years. (Yonhap)
