Jeep, Ford, Bentley vehicles to be recalled In S. Korea

[THE INVESTOR] A total of 10,488 vehicles imported by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Korea, Ford Sales & Service Korea and Audi Volkswagen Korea will be recalled, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on Aug. 29.

FCA Korea will carry out a recall of its Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV and Chrysler 300C sedan, for poorly designed gear shifter that may cause drivers to believe the car is parked when it isn’t.

A Jeep Grand Cherokee car was involved in a fatal crash that killed actor Anton Yelchin in June, raising possibility that his accident was linked to the gear shifter defect.

The recall affects 3,272 units of Jeep Grand Cherokee produced from March 27, 2013 to Dec. 1, 2015 and 1,768 units of Chrysler 300C.

A total of 2,198 units of Jeep Grand Cherokee, produced from July 20, 2010, to Aug. 31, 2012, are being recalled as well for faulty wiring in the sun visor.

FTC Korea is also issuing a recall on six units of Chrysler Grand Voyager for a defect in the transmission pump.

Ford Sales & Service Korea, the local importer and distributor of the US carmaker, is recalling 2,046 units of midsize sedan Ford Mondeo to fix a software bug in the body control module of the car.

The cars produced from May 3, 2014, to June 14, are under the order.

Ford is also recalling 1,197 units of Lincoln MKX luxury crossover for a problem with brake booster diaphragm, manufactured from May 7, 2010, to March 26, 2013.

Meanwhile, Audi Volkswagen Korea is recalling one Bentley Continental Flying Spur manufactured in June 26, 2008, to address the issue of the sunroof that could fall out.
