Smartphone accessory manufacturer LG Innotek has unveiled a 15-watt wireless charging pad for commercial use, the company said Wednesday.
The 15-watt wireless charging transmitter pad can charge a completely depleted battery to the level of 50 percent within 30 minutes, as fast as a wired one, according to the company. It is also three times faster than most wireless charging modules in the market with 5-watt charging capability.

The company, which is a unit of LG Group, said it applied the technology to prevent the pad from overheating during charging. The product is compatible with most wireless charging smartphones.
The market for wireless chargers reached $553 million in 2015 and it is expected to hit 2.2 billion by 2019, according to market research firm Techno Systems Research.
Sales of the 15-watt wireless charging pad will begin in mid-Oct. in North America, Europe, and Australia, the company said.
