North Korea said Tuesday that it will make an "important announcement" at 3:30 p.m. (Korean time).
The announcement came hours after North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the East Sea on Tuesday. South Korea’s military said the launch is the North's first provocation since the summit between South Korea and the US last week.
The missile was fired at 9:40 a.m. from Banghyeon, North Pyongan Province, and flew about 930 kilometers said Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff. The missile might have crashed into the water near Japan’s exclusive economic zone, according to the Japanese broadcaster NHK. JCS has yet to confirm the the exact type of the projectile.
