Former Wonder Girls member-turned-solo singer Sunmi confessed that she had initially disliked the choreography for the now-disbanded K-pop group’s 2007 hit track “Tell Me.”
“I really didn’t want to do it,” she said Saturday on SBS’ “Party People,” a talk show hosted by singer-producer Park Jin-young, also known as JYP.
Park wrote and choreographed “Tell Me,” a pop tune with a 1980s feel that topped charts with its catchy melody and easy-to-follow dance moves in 2007.

“(Park) sent us the choreography from the US. We said to ourselves, ‘What is this dance?’” Sunmi said of Wonder Girls’ initial reactions.
“It was such a shock because we had not lived (in the 1980s). We didn’t want to sing it,” she added. “But we’re so grateful that it became a hit song,” she told Park.
Sunmi, who left JYP Entertainment for MakeUs Entertainment in March, released her solo single “Gashina” in August, which has been topping charts.

“I was worried at first,” Park said. “I wondered if there was any producer who knew Sunmi better than I did.”
But after seeing Sunmi perform onstage, he had predicted that the song would top charts, Park said.
