A South Korean doctor who killed his wife by injecting her with a lethal drug has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
The Daejeon District Court on Wednesday handed down a 35-year prison term to the doctor on the charge of murder.
The doctor allegedly carried out the murder on March 11 by putting his wife to sleep with pills and injecting her with a lethal drug he purchased through his hospital.
The doctor reportedly abused his authority by writing his own prescription to secure the pill. He also falsified the cause of his wife’s death as heart disease. His crime was revealed afterwards when the victim’s family reported his suspicious behavior to the police.
The court said in its ruling that the doctor’s act is particularly immoral, given how he broke the ethics rules and abused his position as a doctor.
