GIC Day to return to Gwangju

With food, performances and activities to get stuck into, GIC Day is returning to Gwangju on Sunday.

On the main stage performances from traditional Korean music to Irish folk, belly dancing and a joint Zumba workout.

Finger food from 15 countries, from Rwanda and Indonesia to China and Canada, will be available at booths in the main area. Alongside them, culture booths will share traditional games and crafts from around the world.

Those who bring their own tumblers will get 50 percent off drinks.

Community groups, support centers and expat organizations will also be present to share what they do in the city.

Side events include a raffle and free dental checks from English-speaking dentists.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the ACC Democracy Plaza near the Asia Culture Center in Dong-gu.

The center is also organizing a joint trek up Mudeungsan, a mountain on the western outskirts of the city, on Nov. 4. The course, opened to the public in 2015 after being closed for a 36-year conservation effort, is about 9 kilometers and goes via Yeonghwa Falls, so young children may find it difficult.
