Members of a Korean “anti-Trump” civic group have been barred from entering the US.
The US Expedition Youth Group for Impeachment of Donald Trump said in a press conference Wednesday that its members had planned to fly to the US on that day for an anti-Trump rally, but were denied entry.
Earlier in the day, 14 members of the group were told by United Airlines that they had been banned from their scheduled flight to New York at the request of the US government.
In an earlier statement on Oct. 18, the group said it planned to visit New York, Washington and Los Angeles to hold anti-Trump rallies over the weeklong period between Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. The group also shortlisted the UN headquarters and the White house as potential rally spots.
“As our countrymen have successfully led our former president’s impeachment, we want to share this experience with American youth and solidarize together to get President Trump impeached as well,” the group said in the statement.
Also referring to President Trump’s scheduled visit to Seoul early next month, the group declared the Korean Peninsula a “No Trump Zone” and announced plans to demonstrate at the White House with aims to prevent his visit.
Now that their plans have been put off by the entry ban, the group said they will, nevertheless, continue their activism in Korea in preparation for Trump’s scheduled visit to Seoul on Nov. 7.
