A man in his 40s has been convicted for chasing down a driver who honked at him and beating him with a wooden sword.
The Cheongju District Court said Saturday it handed down a jail term of 2 1/2 years to the man. The court said it meted out a strict punishment, as the man had been sentenced three times for acts of violence.

The man reportedly followed and stopped a truck driver who honked and passed him in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, around 10 a.m. on Jan. 28. While asking why the driver had horned at him, the suspect reportedly beat him with a wooden sword. He was arrested on the charge of assault.
The victim suffered a tendon rupture in his arm that would take a month to heal completely.
