FRANKFURT -- Celebrating its 30th anniversary, CPhI Worldwide 2019 is being held in Frankfurt, Germany, this week, with over 45,000 participants from the pharmaceutical industry.
At the biggest global annual pharma event, participants will attend a three-day course from Tuesday on the latest medical solutions while getting a chance to network with peers.

Presentation on the different pharma development and manufacturing processes, technology and products are scheduled at six subevents.
In the main segment, excipients and intermediates that promise successful novel drug creation will be introduced. At the P-MEC segment, equipment such as pharma machinery and lab apparatus are being showcased. The InnoPack segment deals with packaging of drugs, from safety caps to sealants and syringes.
The ICSE segment is a platform for outsourcing companies covering logistics and contract research. The FDF segment discusses the finished formulations of drugs such as the drug being powder, pill, capsule or cream.
The latest addition to this year’s event is the BioProduction segment. For a long time, the event had only featured those involved in chemical pharmaceuticals manufacturing. In this segment, however, both the pharma and biopharma firms can network, organizers said.
Samsung BioLogics CEO Kim Tae-han was a keynote speaker at the CPhI 2017.
While Kim will not by joining the event this year, the South Korean firm said five of its representatives will speak on new achievements in the field.
Some keywords from this year’s CPhI are gene and cell therapy, pharma market situations in the face of Brexit and digital disruption, repurposing of drugs in a powder-inhalation form, medicinal cannabis and China’s growing presence in the global pharma.
