British American Tobacco Korea on Tuesday launched Glo Pro that uses an induction heating technology, which is also widely used in kitchens.
According to the tobacco maker, Glo Pro contains a battery-powered coil which creates a magnetic field. The heat is generated in the metal tube that holds the tobacco stick called Neo.
The technology delivers more robust tobacco taste and faster heating time for the first puff, BAT Korea said.

It is also heated at a higher temperature than the previous Glo series 2, reaching up to 280 degrees Celsius.
Glo Pro offers two modes: advanced and boost. The advanced mode offers the first puff in 20 seconds and a total of four minutes of usage time. Boost mode takes 10 seconds until the first puff and three minutes for the usage.
“We believe that faster start time for the first puff, quicker taste release and better taste satisfaction will appeal to consumers looking for something more than their devices,” said BAT Korea CEO Kim Eui-soung.
The product costs 100,000 won ($85) and will be available at Glo flagship stores and convenient stores nationwide and at its official website starting Monday.
In addition to seven kinds of existing flavors, BAT Korea has newly added zest cool.
