'New Journey to the West 2' slides on weekly cable chart

The second season of "New Journey to the West," a reality adventure show featuring South Korea's three comedy icons and a lone actor, fell a notch to rank third on the weekly cable viewership chart, data showed Monday.

The show in which four men execute bizarre tasks in the Chinese city of Chengdu captured 2.75 percent of TV viewers on Friday, data by Nielsen Korea showed.

Week-on-week, the viewership rose from 2.69 percent recorded the previous week.

Back by popular demand, "New Journey to the West 2" sets comedians Kang Ho-dong, Lee Soo-geun, singer Eun Ji-won and actor Ahn Jae-hyeon on a journey to Sichuan Province in southwestern China.

"Memory," a tvN drama about a man reconnecting with his family after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, held its season finale watched by 3.27 percent of the viewers on Saturday.

Among terrestrial shows, "Flower in the Prison," a period drama about a genius woman born and raised in prison, renewed its own viewership record with 20.7 percent on the fourth episode aired Sunday.

The series starring actor Go Soo and actress Jin Se-yeon broke the 20 percent mark on the second episode, a rare accomplishment for a TV show but fell back to below 20 percent on the next one.

"My Lawyer, Mr. Jo," a KBS 2TV series about a prosecutor-turned-lawyer advocating for the poor, stayed at No. 1 in the Monday-Tuesday night time slot. It recorded an average of 12.7 percent last week.

"Mrs. Cop 2," an SBS series featuring actress Kim Sung-ryung as a detective, concluded its final episode with a 10.6 percent viewership. (Yonhap)
