해지기 전 암사자는 코뿔소 새끼를 주시하고 있었다.

녀석은 어미 따르던 새끼가 한눈팔기만을 기다렸다. 이어 뒤에서 먹잇감을 전속력으로 덮쳐본다.
그러나 오늘도 허탕. 어미 코뿔소가 다그쳤고 사자는 주춤주춤 물러서야 했다.
매일 반복되는 패배는 녀석과 식솔의 사바나 생존을 위협하고 있었다. 한편 무리하게 단독사냥을 감행한 것으로 미뤄 무리에서 이미 퇴출된 암컷이라고 주장하는 이들도 있다. (동영상출처=유튜브)
