Spanish fashion brand Zara’s founder is richer than Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, according to a Forbes list Thursday.
Amancio Ortega, the founder and chairman of Inditex Fashion Group topped the world’s wealthiest list by Forbes. His net worth is $79.5 billion. Inditex is a Spainish multinational clothing corporate that operates multiple brands including the popular Zara.
Bill Gates ranked second richest with $78.5 billion, while Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos was third with $67.6 billion.
Mexico’s telecommunication magnate Carlos Slim Helu was also among the top 10. His net worth is $51.1 billion, according to Forbes.
Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg and other US-based entrepreneurs were also included in the list.
Meanwhile, Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee was the only Korean entrepreneur listed among the top 100 richest. His net assets are worth $14.6 billion. His son Lee Jae-yong, the Samsung Electronics vice chairman, ranked 202nd with $6.8 billion.
