MOCA’s digital catalog wins award

The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea has won an international award for its innovative digital catalog.

“National Museum of Contemporary Art Digital Publishing Campaign” received the silver prize at the Fourth Annual Internationalist’s Awards for Innovation in Media held last week in New York.

The digital catalog project contains materials related to a 2011 MOCA exhibition featuring 23 Artists of the Year from 1995 to 2010.

A joint project between MOCA and Digital D Folio, the iPad-based catalog contains information on the exhibited artworks, artists, critiques in both English and Korean as well as interviews with the artist.

The digital catalog allows the users to get a near-complete museum experience without setting foot in an exhibition hall, pointing to a new and innovative direction for communicating about exhibitions, according to MOCA.

To access the digital catalog, search for Nmoca on iTunes Store using an iPad. The complete catalog in Part I and Part II can be downloaded for free.

The Internationalist Award is an annual award given by the Internationalist magazine, a magazine specializing in international advertising, marketing and media.
