South Korean health and beauty retailer CJ Olive Young’s derma skin care brand Bioheal Boh and cosmetics and health care goods manufacturer Kolmar Korea have signed a business agreement to collaborate on microbiome skin care products.

Under the recent agreement, the two companies will establish a new research lab, dubbed Probio Lab, to accelerate research and development of microbiome-based skin care products.

“The latest business agreement is to combine Bioheal Boh’s specialties in product planning and Kolmar Korea’s research capabilities to develop innovative microbiome skin care products,” an official from Bioheal Boh said.

CJ Olive Young will be responsible for providing guidelines for skin care product development and marketing strategies, while Kolmar Korea will be in charge of the development of ingredients for Bioheal Boh’s new skin care products.

“The research center will be established within Kolmar Korea’s R&D Complex. Researchers from Kolmar Korea and HK inno.N will conduct related research,” an official from Kolmar Korea said.

Kolmar Korea will also develop proper formulations of the skin care products and test their safety and efficacy, the official added.

CJ Olive Young plans to introduce additional Bioheal Boh products in foreign countries and increase its presence in overseas markets. CJ Olive Young is currently selling Bioheal Boh products in 14 countries, including Japan, Australia and Singapore.

“CJ Olive Young and Kolmar Korea will work together to create marketing contents that target global customers,” an official from CJ Olive Young said.
