앞치마를 두른 ‘여종업원’에게 손님들 시선이 쏠린다. 피자를 서빙하는 이는 다름아닌 로봇이다.

6일 AP에 따르면 파키스탄의 한 음식점에서 일하는 로봇이 화제다. 엔지니어 오사마 자프리가 개발한 이 로봇은 매우 날씬하다. 몸무게가 불과 25kg이다.

자프리는 “로봇 웨이트리스 덕에 매출이 두 배로 뛰었다”며 “음식점 주인이 나의 로봇을 사고싶어 한다”며 행복한 고민을 드러냈다.
