Samsung invests in Canadian wind tower plant

Samsung C&T and the Canadian Embassy have made known their plans to open a wind tower manufacturing plant in Windsor, Ontario.

The Windsor plant is part of a $7 billion investment by Samsung and its partners in the province of Ontario, the embassy announced.

The plant will create 300 manufacturing jobs along with 400 indirect construction and service jobs.

The plant will be built and run by a new Ontario subsidiary of CS Wind, a Korean-based company that has partnered with Samsung.

CS Wind’s Chairman Gim Seong-gon is hopeful the plant will be operational by October and that it will turn out 200 to 300 turbine towers per year using 100 percent Ontario steel.
