The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will summon the husband of former ruling party lawmaker Na Kyung-won over allegations that he used his influence as a judge to ask a prosecutor to indict a netizen for posting slanderous remarks about Na on the internet in 2005.
The allegations were first brought forward by SisaIN reporter Choo Chin-woo on the podcast “Naneun Ggomsuda.” In the podcast Choo alleged that Na’s husband Kim Jae-ho used his influence in the prosecution of the netizen. Following the podcast, Na filed a suit against Choo for spreading false information about her. Choo responded by filing a suit against Na and Kim on the same charges.
As the podcast revealed the name of the prosecutor, Park Eun-jeong came forward, admitting that she was asked by Kim to open the case.
The police have sent questions to Park and Choi Young-woon of the Daegu prosecutors’ office.
“Judge Kim will be questioned after the answers from Park and Choi have been analyzed,” a police officer was quoted as saying by a local news agency. “Park and Choi are witnesses (in the investigation) but as Kim is the accused, he will be summoned for questioning.”
