Hyundai Group has launched the Asan Sharing Foundation at its headquarter in Gyedong, Jongno, Seoul, on Thursday.
The 500 billion won ($437 million) charity foundation was established by the Hyundai clan including Grand National Party lawmaker Chung Mong-joon, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group and family members in memory of the late founder of Hyundai Group Chung Ju-yung who passed away 10 years ago.
Chung Jin-hong, honorary professor of Seoul National University, will chair the foundation. The former government legislation minister Lee Seog-yeon, Sungshin Womens’ University Prof. Kim Tae-hyun, Hanyang University Prof. Han Jung-hwa, actor Ahn Sung-ki, the Munhwa Ilbo President and Publisher Lee Byung-kyu and former president of Hyundai Heavy Industry Choi Gil-sun are board members of the foundation.
