S. Korean man shot to death in Mexico

MEXICO CITY -- A South Korean man was shot to death by an unknown assailant near Mexico City, local authorities said Saturday, in the latest death of a Korean national in Mexico's capital city.

The man, whose identity was withheld, was shot in the face several times in front of his own clothing shop in Sinaloa, north of Mexico City, on Thursday evening, local police said.

Investigators said they are looking into possibilities whether the victim, who was in his 40s, was specifically targeted for any personal reason, considering he was only shot in the face.

The latest death comes after another South Korean man was gunned down by three attackers in a residential area in the capital city a week ago, raising safety concerns among Korean nationals living in Mexico.

The Korean embassy in Mexico has dispatched investigators to the city to look into the case, officials said. (Yonhap News)
